"Isn't she lovely? Isn't she wonderful?" This beautiful horse was potted by noted English potter Annie Parker Smith, who was working in the Seventies and Eighties, producing a superb small range of unique pottery animal sculptures All this fabulous work of art is in excellent condition, just as she left her artist's studio.
The finely bred little mare has the deeply dished head reflecting Arabian breeding and is modelled recumbent, her forelegs slightly raised, her neck curving to her left. Her expression is alert and intelligent but serene, her neat ears pricked forward and her tail flick lazily against her hind quarters. The modelling and handling of the clay is superb and masterly, beautifully observed with a true understanding of the form and conformation of the animal. The colouring is expertly controlled and restrained, the potter has used lustre glazes to her eyes and hooves and pearl lustre to the dapples.
Fully signed by the artist in incised cursive script into the clay.
Condition: Excellent
Dimensions: 2.52 high to tip of ears x 6" wide.
