West German Bottle Shaped Vase with ‘Volcanic’ Textured Pattern |

This is a striking example of a small bottle shaped West German ceramic vase.
The rim is quite deep and then curves in sharply to a short neck above a small ‘shoulder’. The exterior surface of the vase consists of ‘islands’ of smooth glaze surrounded by abstract areas of textured ceramic, with a cratered appearance resembling volcanic flow. The smooth areas are finished with a vermilion coloured glaze, and the textured areas are finished in dark brown. The interior of the vase is glazed in chocolate brown.
On the base of the vase there is an unglazed outer rim, revealing the underlying ceramic body to be off-white in colour. Within this, the central part of the base is slightly recessed and has the number ‘210 – 18’ and the words ‘W.GERMANY’ moulded in relief.
It is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks.
Condition: Perfect
Dimensions: The height of the vase is approximately 19cm, with a diameter at the rim of about 5.4cm.
