A very rare George Graham pocket watch from c1730s, originally a cylinder movement, converted to a going barrel lever in 1887 with a purpose made case & dial. The silver case is in excellent condition & was made with a tapered interior specially to house the movement, it has the London hallmark for 1887, the case makers mark RJO & the serial number 4918 (the same number as the movement & dial). The case has a smooth finish with no engravings, the hinged back & front covers both close firmly & evenly. The glass is very good There is a small edge chip between XII & I. The dial is marked GEO. GRAHAM LONDON 4918. There is a small filled in chip on the edge of the sub' seconds dial between 21 & 26. The movement is signed G Graham London 4918. The ornate balance cock has a cherubs face & a diamond endstone, it also has a wide foot typical of early 18th century watches. The hands are pin set, to move the hands push in the pin on the edge at I & turn the crown. Running well & keeping good time for a watch of this age, gaining around 20 minutes per day. This is a very clever Victorian conversion by a very skilled watchmaker and most certainly a one-off.
Condition: Very Good
Dimensions: 1,13/16 (46mm) diameter excluding the stem
