A Victorian verge movement pocket watch. The silver case has a smooth finish with coin edge sides, there is a small dent at the bottom rear edge. The front & rear covers are hinged, both close firmly & evenly. It has the Chester hallmark for 1861, the casemakers mark TG & the number 417. This is a very late date for a verge movement, it is all original as the number on the movement is the same as that on the case. The cream coloured dial is excellent with no chips or hairlines. The movement has it's original clip on dust cover. The verge movement is signed Arthur Keating. Strand. 417. It is running well but like many verge movements timekeeping is not too good, gaining about 70 minutes per day.

Dimensions: 2" (50mm) diameter excluding the stem.
