A First World War British Indian Army issue wristwatch in excellent condition, the silver case has the London import mark for 1916 & the case makers mark GS. It has hinged strap lugs & hinged front & rear covers, both close firmly & evenly. The rear of the case is marked with the War Department arrow above the letter I this is the British Indian Army stamp, above the arrow is an inverted arrow giving the appearance of an asterisk, this is the cancellation mark which was used when the watch was sold after military use. The dial is excellent except for a small edge chip at the bottom, this cannot be seen unless the front cover is opened. The lever movement is marked GLOBE. SWISS MADE. It is running well & keeping good time. Army issued wristwatches from the First World War are rare as very few were issued, Officers were usually expected to provide their own.
