WW1 half hunter cased men's silver wristwatch. |

A First World War Swiss made men's half hunter cased silver wristwatch in very good condition. The silver case has the London silver import mark for 1917. The front cover springs open when the button below 6 is pressed, the rear cover is hinged. There are no personal engravings or initials. The black enameled dial is excellent. The lever movement is marked SWISS MADE. Running well & keeping good time for this type and age of wristwatch. Hunter & half hunter cases were designed to protect the dial from knocks. More commonly seen in pocket watches, these are quite rare in wristwatches (this is a genuine wristwatch & not a converted pocket watch). Probably bought privately for use in British military service, this would most likely have been worn by an officer as watches of this quality would have been very expensive.

Dimensions: 1,3/8" (35mm) diameter excluding winding crown & strap lugs.
