An ELECTA Swiss Made watch supplied to Royal Flying Corps pilots in the first world war. This would have been fitted into a holder in the cockpit during flight. (The RFC was the predecessor to the RAF). The heavy duty case has a few dents on the rear cover. The front & rear covers are snap-on, both close firmly & evenly, there is also a hinged rear inner dustcover. The rear cover has the Air Ministry mark of an A over an arrow. The domed glass has some tiny surface scratches. The black enamelled dial has a small repaired area at the edge by 10, there are small holes around the edge next to the hour numbers, these would originally have been filled with luminous paint. The dial is marked 30 HOUR LUMINOUS MARK V. G S TYPE. B.K.3412. The movement is marked ELECTA. SWISS MADE. 15 JEWELS. It is running well & keeping good time.
