WW1 S&Co men's silver wristwatch. |

A first world war Swiss made men's wristwatch by S&Co. The silver case is excellent, just some minor surface scratches, it has a wide bezel with an enameled chapter ring & numerals to give the appearance of a half-hunter. The bezel, the rear cover & rear inner cover are hinged, all close firmly & evenly. The inside of the rear covers have the London import silver hallmark for 1915 & the case makers mark CN. The rear is engraved with the initials E.G. The dial is very unusual, it has no numerals, there are luminous dots at the hour positions & a minute ring around the outside. There are some faint hairlines. The lever movement is marked S&Co under a crown in an oval, also SWISS MADE in another oval. It is running well & keeping good time. The hands are pin-set, to move them, push in the pin on the edge at II & turn the crown. The leather strap has a silver buckle. This type of watch would have been very expensive when new & would probably have been bought by an officer for use on active service during the war.

Dimensions: 1,5/16" (33mm) diameter excluding the winding crown & strap lugs.
