A World War 2 RAF pilot's watch. US made by Waltham. The case is chrome plated brass, there is quite a lot of wear to the chrome, the screw on back is marked with the War Department arrow, 6B/234 A 4611. (6B/234 was the RAF code for a pilot's replacement wristwatch.) The dial is excellent, the lighter patches are reflections, it has solid painted hands rather than paint filled luminous hands as used by the army, this was to avoid the vibrations from the aircraft causing the paint to flake off. The movement has the original inner dust cover & is marked WALTHAM U.S.A. 6/0 '42. 16 JEWELS. 31546318. It is running well & keeping good time.
