Early 19th Century Deceptive Drinking Glass |

This is a fine example of a Georgian deceptive wine glass, probably dating to between 1800 and 1810.
The trumpet shaped bowl is thickened in its lower part, giving the glass a ‘deceptive’ quality. There is a thin flat collar at the junction of the bowl and stem. Just below the collar there is a rounded flattened knop, followed by a short cylindrical section above a second rounded knop. This gives the stem the appearance of a dumbbell. The foot is flat with a central rough pontil.
It is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks.
