This is an unusual example of a late Georgian cut lead crystal wine glass.
The tapering bowl is cut around its centre with two circumferential wedge cuts. Above this the bowl is cut with a continuous blaze of angulated wedge cuts of differing lengths. Below the circumferential cutting the bowl is barrel-stave cut. The stem is double capstan in form and sits on a plain octagonal foot with a central polished out pontil. There is a small engraved number ‘1503’ on the underside of the foot, which is probably a later addition.
It is in good condition, with no chips or cracks. However, there is a considerable amount of water staining to the inside of the glass. This is reflected in the price.
