Late Victorian Star Cut Lead Crystal Custard Cup |

This is a nice example of a cut lead crystal custard cup, probably dating to about 1870.
The bowl is rounded, tapering into a short capstan stem. It is cut with a series of three rows of six-pointed stars, the upper and lower rows containing eight stars. The middle row is staggered with respect to the other two rows and has seven stars. There is an uncut area either side of the applied handle. The latter is strap-like in its upper portion, tapering in to its lower attachment, which ends in a small curl. The foot is plain with a central polished out pontil.
It has a maximum height to the top of the handle of approximately 9.9cm, with a diameter at the rim of about 5.2cm and at the foot of about the same.
It is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks.
