This is a stunning pair of wine decanters, probably dating to about 1880.
The elongated neck has been moulded to form six vertical ‘panels’, which are stepped. The rim is cut with a continuous ring of diamond shaped facets. There is a plain discoid portion below the junction of the neck and flattened globular body. Below this the decanter is elaborately engraved with a grapevine and tendril design, alternating with bunches of grapes formed by olive cut. The base of the decanter has been moulded with a series of radiating petal shapes.
The stopper is hollow blown with a flat hexagonal top. There are rounded facets extending down from each side of the hexagon onto the upper part of the peg. There is an alternating design of vine leaves and plain panels.
Condition: Very Good
Dimensions: Each decanter has a height of approximately 26.8cm. The body has a diameter of approximately 15.0cm.
