This is an unusual example of a late 18th century or early 19th century jelly glass.
The deep trumpet shaped bowl has a hand engraved design, consisting of a band of stylised flowers, below which is a band of stylised leaves. There is a ‘domed’ knop at the junction of the bowl and foot, which is domed and has a central rough pontil.
The jelly glass has a height of approximately 11.4cm, with a diameter at the rim of about 6.3cm and at foot of about 5.8cm, although it is not perfectly circular.
It is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks, although there is a large enclosed bubble in the foot of the glass. This is a manufacturing artefact, and does not detract from the piece in any way.
