A beautiful and expertly-made caster, richly and exquisitely turned and decorated on a Holzapfel Ornamental lathe (a refined version of the standard Rose Engine). Made in three pieces connected by turned screw-threads. The dense coquilla nut body is nicely patinated to a rich brown. This piece is nearly 200 years old and, being made of a natural organic material, subjected to years of use, it is naturally in somewhat less than absolutely perfect condition. Some flaws are inevitable and this piece is in remarkably good condition for its age. Please see the photographs and the condition report below.
