ASPREY DOUBLE END CUT CRYSTAL BINOCULAR SCENT BOTTLE, CORAL TOPS |

A very fine facet cut lightly swollen form crystal double ended scent bottle, with a spring loaded hinged silver gilt top at one end, and a cork lined screw top at the other. The tops are embellished with pink coral beads, and both ends have fifteen carat gold end buttons engraved with entwined initials. The bottle has a hinged middle section - some opinions say this was for sovereigns, others say lockets of hair - to give it a binocular shape in the open position. Circa 1880, tops not hallmarked but tested for silver; maker's mark "GB" for George Brace, spring lid interior disk marked "Asprey 166 Bond St.". Article measured in centimetres and rounded to the nearest quarter inch.
