A very fine cobalt overlay crystal smelling salts bottle, with a foliate scrollwork embossed spring catch top and scrollwork silver collar. The front and back are cut to clear with diamond panels and triangles, the waisted sides with groove patterns. Circa 1870, silver not hallmarked but tested. Article measured in centimetres and rounded up or down to the nearest quarter inch.

Dimensions: height 8.8cm/3.5in.
