An Extremely Rare Minton Cache Pot |

This extremely rare piece is hand painted, in coloured enamels, on a composite body. The main picture depicts a thatched cottage in an extensive landscape. The reverse shows a rocky landscape with a ruined castle in the distance. This piece is unmarked and forms part of a small class of wares decorated with coloured landscapes, some unmarked, others with full titles, some bearing the mock Sevre mark and in at least one case, a Bute shape cup and saucer, bearing the title, mark and the name Minton. All these pieces seem to date from the same early period of the factory, around the begining of the nineteenth century.
