A stoneware scalloped edge tureen base / platter made by Goodwin & Ellis of Lane End Staffordshire: 1839-1840. The transfer ware pattern is called Victoria Wreath and has a pattern of flowers, berries, fir cones and leaves in a wonderful medley of shades of blue. The edge of the pattern is picot on the outer rim and an elegant scroll and dot edging that points to the floral centre of the dish which is decorated with a stem of mixed flowers and leaves and "shadow" foliage. A wonderful addition to anyone's blue and white collection.
