A truly beautiful hand decorated plate by Moore Bros, St Mary's Works, Longton, Staffordshire. This piece is exquisitely well-made and decorated as one would expect from such an outstanding family of potters. The pattern, consisting of a bramble sprig and two bees, was first outlined with tube-lining then expertly painted. The underside of the plae bears the impressed mark "Moore" and the capital letter "F". The mark shows the date of manufacture to be between 1868 and 1875. Bernard Moore and his brother Samuel Vincent Moore, took over the running of the factory from their father in 1870 making good-quality china tablewares. The association ended in 1905 and Bernard went on to become famous in his own right.
