This is a lovely quality handpainted flower vase by the Reinhold Schlegelmilch porcelain factory of Tillowitz, Silesia.
The body is gourd shaped, being vertically segmented. There are two handpainted oval shaped panels, depicting stylised flowers. These vary slightly. The main colour of the lower half of the vase is orange and this is decorated with an abstract pattern of curls and intersecting lines in gold. The segmentation continues downwards onto the slightly flared base. The edge of the base has a white border with a fine gold band.
The upper part of the vase is trumpet shaped and is mainly white, with two lines of gold flanking a band of orange at the rim. The white portion has four differing handpainted floral designs.
The base is recessed and the centre has a transfer print in gold consisting of two distinct parts. The upper part has a laurel wreath with a star above and the letters ‘R S’ in the centre. Below this is the word ‘TILLOWITZ’. In addition, there is a segmented globe with the letters ‘E P O S’ across the centre. My understanding is that this stands for ‘Fine Porcelain from Upper Silesia’.
