J.F.Herring 1815 - 1907. First worked as a coach and sign painter. He was born in London and became a sporting and horse painter of great repute. His son also became a painter of animals. This large print taken from the painting "Gone Away" is unusual in its mixture of farm life and the Hunting scene. In the foreground you have the Farmer with his ploughing team watching the Hunt pass. His two dogs just glad for the chance of a rest. The passing stagecoach passengers look on with interest, something to break the boredom of the journey. The Hunt pours over the fence following the dogs on the trail of the wiley fox. Beautifully painted with lots of interest and details. A print to see something different in whenever you look.
