SWETTENHAM by H S Barlow was printed by Southdene Sdn.Bhd. Kuala Lumpur. Swettenham was born in 1850 and was 96 when he died. He played a key part in the development of Malaysa and was also a keen historian himself. The author had to overcome considerable difficulty in assembling the necessary records for this biography as much of Swettenham's records and paintings had been dispersed all over the world. Swettenham's life was not without scandal and this is touched upon in the book. Well illustrated and well presented with an excellent index and bibliography, a book for the serious student of this time and area.First signed edition
