A Mappin and Webb Silver String Box in the form of a Turbine. Made by one of the greatest silversmiths in London in 1904. Fully hallmarked, as is each of the four wheels. Not only do the wheels rotate but so too do the terminals. The copper insert is in the form of a copper coil. The combination of maker and quality and specific design suggests it was probably commissioned for a major electrical engineer of the time, possibly even Ferranti!!!!!
