A superb, large, heavy silver perfume bottle holder by one of the greatest silversmiths in Austria at the time, Georg Anton Scheid. Lined with purple velvet, and with a beautifully incised vertical pattern on all sides, this is the epitome of opulence. Fully hallmarked to the base with the Austrian Diana head, G.A.S. 900 and to the side of the lid G.A.S and the Diana head hallmark. Hand inscribed to the base indistinctly what appears to read Fr Mem og G Loll 11th October 1903. .All the corners and edges are sound. The push button opener works well and the hinge is beautifully crafted and undamaged. When the lid closes it has that top quality feel to it. The wear, that is concomitant with age and use, does not detract at all from this splendid piece. A rare item.
