Circa 1850/70, a superb set of four Victorian balloon backed dining chairs.
Noticeably well defined detailing on these wonderful chairs make them highly desireable. They feature good sized horse hair filled seats, serpentine fronted, with moulded mahogany edge to the overstuff seat sides. The backs a double drape carving with central buckles. The whole rasied on very fine fluted and turned legs which really are a lovely feature in themselves. The beauty of these chairs is that may balloon backs are very delicate and not really suitable for everyday use but these are exceptionally sturdy, all joints having been checked and have now been reupholstered in a lovely gold material with soft foliate detailing and gold braid.
