20th JUNE 1837 AND VICTORIA ASCENDS THE THRONE. The Victorian Age was a time of great progress and reform. It began with the monarchy seen frequently as a laughing stock, the new industrial revolution causing great suffering and both Parliament and the Law known to be corrupt and unfair. Helped by the repeal of the Corn Laws industry began to flourish, and mastery of the seas enabled Britain to develop a great colonial Empire that fed the country with raw materials and provided it with outlets overseas. The population expanded rapidly, new towns were built and old ones grew beyond recognition. Art became romantic and buildings were grand and confident. By the end of the century the monarchy stood in high regard and social and parliamentary reforms had made the Victorian era the age of the common man. This puzzle shows highlights from that time and life experienced by different classes, main inventions and historical incidents. Made by Mandolin Puzzles and illustrated by Patrick Wright, Martin Frost and Neil Gower. 1,000 pieces. Made in England
