This is a very elaborately decorated purse, with a fan-like decoration in cut steel at the square end, ball, rod and bead sections at the round tasselled end, and nicely decorated rings. The different shaped ends have a purpose, in that in the frequently poor lighting of the time, the correct coins could be withdrawn by feel if, say, one kept gold in the square end and silver in the round end. With a navy blue and coral (the latter a little faded in places) hand knitted or crocheted body, this is a most attractive example.
