Beautiful Tortoiseshell Box with Silver Decoration |

This is indeed a fine example of an early 1900′s Tortoiseshell box with very decorative hallmarked silver mounts to the lid. The silver is stamped with the mark for Birmingham 1912 which shows the letter “N”. It opens by pressing the button at the front of the box which is in perfect working order.
The box is a fabulous example of its type and has a wonderful high gloss Tortoiseshell which has a beautiful colour and patina with the colours ranging from a rich deep brown to a bright Champagne tan as you can see from the photographs. I love the way the interior also has Tortoiseshell decoration which is a certian sign of good quality.
There is a hairline crack at the top right of the lid some small bits of silver missing and a couple of nibbles to the corners on the lid, but these are all visible in the photographs and you do not see them when the box is on display and it is in lovely condition. A fine example indeed, lovely colour, good condition and very very decorative indeed.
