Here we have a rare example of the rudder from a college boat (Jesus College) which has been very well preserved and attractively decorated. The names and weights of the crew are all very legible in gilded lettering. The rudder also bears the College and the University crests, and also the names of the rowing coaches. For the collector of Boat Race memorabilia this is an exciting find. Research shows that by 1928, Jesus College had supplied at least 46 students who had rowed in the actual annual Inter-University Boat Race in London. Jesus College was the fourth most successful in having its students reach the annual event. Trinity 1 was the most successful. It is hardly surprising, then, that such an effort was made to record with this decorated rudder the fact that 'Jesus 1' actually beat 'Trinity 1' in these Lent Races!

Dimensions: Approximately 46cm in length, and approximatley 30cm high.
