A silver engine turned and enamelled cigarette case, with a polychrome enamel panel depicting a Boston terrier, London 1924 by J Thompson & Sons, 9 x 7.5cm (3.5 x 3 in) The Boston terrier is a combination of the original Bulldog, a smooth coated terrier and the Frenchie. The breed originated in America by people from the Boston area who were interested in fighting dogs. A compact little dog usually weighing about 8kg (18lb), it is the markings that are considered to be particularly important.
